Do Good Design by David Berman

How Designers can change the world.

A short review and self discovery.

What i thought of design before reading this book?  Design  is something that is researched and drafted several times till we get a solution or a concept. A solution or a new form of communication or idea, seen through the eye's of the designer. Do my notes and finalize drafts communicate how i convey the message?

We all know what design is but have you considered the impact of how a designer communicates to the world or viewer? Do we help design deceptions as young designer's? or do we help by repairing the world?
Design is one of the most powerful tools, we promote,advertise what we want to the consumer or clients and fabricate an imagine or idea whether it is positive or negative a message is being communicated.

In this book as apart of the reading list, i have learnt not only about the principles of design but the deeper meaning. It is what i choose to do with my design & idea's, through deception or towards repairing our fragile world. David Berman narrates how design and designers create much of what we see,what we use and what we experience. Design thinking offers a way forward for us all, especially if design effects us socially,environmentally and advertisement, then why haven't we thought about taking a step further by creating change, to help the world when design is so influential. A step to improving the quality of human life by changing mindset and values. It is time we had a wake up warning, a reminder.

I highly recommend this book as apart of anyone's reading list along with my favourite book, A Whole New Mind by Daniel H Pink.

Some inspiring quotes;

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." Gandalf
